Accessibility statement

Introduction

We give a warm welcome to everyone who visits Common Barn. We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in our 5 bedroom B & B and 3 self catering cottages. The following statement is a resume of our provision. Please feel free to call us with any specific questions and we will try to help.

Directions

By Road
Take the B5470 out of Macclesfield towards Whaley Bridge.
Rainow can be found after 3 miles. Go through the village and take the first right hand road into Smith Lane where we can be found on the right hand side after half a mile.

By Train
The nearest station is Macclesfield. A taxi will take you from the station to our farm in 10 minutes.

By Bus
Take any bus out of Macclesfield that goes to Whaley Bridge, get off at Smith lane and we are half a mile up Smith Lane on the right.

By Plane
Nearest airport is Manchester (30 minutes away)

Arrival & car parking facilities
There are no marked bays, but ample room for all cars (we can also provide helicopter parking!)
Disabled access available. We can assist guests with luggage.

Main entrance and reception
The floor in the main entrance / tea shop area is Spanish tiled with under floor heating throughout.
Plenty of seating provided.

Public areas – WC
All of the bedrooms are en-suite.
We also provide male and female public toilets that are used by tea shop customers.

Dining room/lounge/café
Breakfast is served in the teashop on the ground floor. The floor is tiled with under floor heating.

Allergies
We are a working farm and there are cattle, sheep, horses, dogs and cats. Nuts are used in our kitchen.

Dietary
We endeavour to cater for various dietary requirements, providing they are discussed beforehand so that we can get adequate supplies.

Laundry
Washing machines, dryers and irons can be used upon request.

Shop
We have a tea shop on site which is open from 10am until 5pm Saturday and Sunday, serving light refreshments.

Leisure facilities
The Guests lounge area is fully carpeted with a 3 seater sofa and 2 chairs. There is a large flat screen television with a Nintendo Wii and many games. Also available are board games, DVD’s, books and magazines. We also have some children’s toys.

Conference and meeting rooms
The teashop can be hired for events / meetings on request. Refreshments can be provided.

Bedrooms
There are 3 downstairs bedrooms and 2 upstairs. All bedrooms have a television and DVD player which are remote controlled. There is a hand rail up to the second floor of bedrooms. Room 2 has disabled access with lowered light switches and a wet room.

Grounds and gardens
There is a garden and patio area with seating available. We have 500 acres of farmland available for guests to walk, and also public footpaths from the farm.

Smoking
All of the buildings are non smoking throughout. Smoking is allowed on the patios outside.

Additional information
Assistance dogs are welcome
We are able to use front and back doors in the need of evacuation. All bedrooms are equipped with smoke detectors and are also fitted in the entrance and stairs. There are fire extinguishers throughout. If you require more assistance in case of evacuation please notify us on arrival (hearing impairment).
