Camping at Common Barn Farm

The Peak District campsite with some of the best views in Cheshire!

Common Barn Farm is located in Rainow near Macclesfield, Cheshire. We have a designated area for campers, motorhomes and caravans situated within our 250 acres of farmland, making it an ideal location for a quiet and peaceful stay within the Peak District National Park. The camping field itself occupies a raised position and offers panoramic views across the surrounding countryside and nearby Lamaload Reservoir. The field is bordered by dry stone walls, beyond which is lush meadow farm land with grazing sheep and plenty of wildlife.

For caravans and motorhomes, we have a large gravel carpark located adjacent to our farm house. Electric is supplied by means of a cable from our barn. If you do not need electric, then you can park within one of the fields depending on weather conditions.

There is a public footpath passing through the farm which connects with the famous Gritstone trail and fly fishing is available at nearby Errwood Reservoir which is approximately 2.5 miles away. There are also two pubs within a 20 minute walk which offer real cask ales and traditional pub food.

Facilities

Tea Room – open Wednesday to Sunday serving breakfasts and light lunches
Toilets – Single Portaloo

  • There are currently no electrical hook-ups in the fields. Motorhomes and caravans can hook up in the main car park.

  • There is cold water available from a tap outside of the Tea Room.

  • At present there are no shower facilities for campers.

  • As we are a farm, we have a very large area available for campers so you needn't worry about being too close to other pitches.

  • There are no shops within walking distance; however our on site Tea Room will be able to supply essentials such as milk, tea & coffee. There is a 24 hour Tesco store only a 12 minute drive away in Macclesfield, and also a small off-license a little closer on the way to Rainow.

  • A facility for freezing ice-packs is available.

Rules

  • We do not allow dogs because we are a working sheep farm.

  • BBQ's and fires are allowed as long as they are kept off the grass and any used charcoal and ashes are deposited in the designated metal bins.

Please Note: If you are planning on having a fire, you will need to bring the following items with you:

    1. Firewood
    2. Suitable container to house the fire, such as a metal dustbin lid
    3. Some bricks to keep the fire off the ground
    4. Fire extinguisher

  • Campers are asked to tidy up after themselves and dispose of any rubbish using the appropriate waste bins provided. Please also ensure that you bring enough bin bags with you.

  • Noise must be kept at a reasonable level as to not upset other fellow campers and animals. Any complaints of excessive noise from other campers will result in a forfeit of your deposit bond* (see details below). Please remember though that pitches are well spaced out, so this shouldn't be a problem.
